Aid & Scholarships

  • Federal financial aid refers to the financial assistance provided by the U.S. government to eligible students to help them pay for their education expenses. The primary source of federal financial aid is the U.S. Department of Education. The department offers various financial aid programs, including grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.

Here are the main types of federal financial aid: grants, loans and work study. Here at Borner’s Barber College, we only accept Federal Grants. Here is more information about grants: Grants: Grants are typically awarded based on financial need and do not require repayment. The most well-known federal grant is the Pell Grant, which is available to undergraduate students with significant financial need. Other grant programs include the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant.

To determine eligibility for federal financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA collects information about the student's financial situation and is used to calculate the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC determines the student's eligibility for need-based financial aid programs.

It's important to note that federal financial aid is subject to certain requirements and regulations. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress, enroll in an eligible program, and meet other criteria to remain eligible for financial aid. Additionally, the availability and amount of federal financial aid may vary depending on the student's financial need, cost of attendance, and other factors.
